4.4 from 130 reviews

This Apple Pie Dip is a deliciously warm and comforting treat that captures the classic flavors of apple pie in a versatile dip form. Combining tender, cinnamon-spiced apples with a sweet, thickened sauce, it’s perfect for dipping with cookies, crackers, or fresh fruit. Easy to prepare using either an Instant Pot or stovetop, this dip can be served immediately, refrigerated, or frozen for later enjoyment.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 3 apples, peeled and diced into 1/4 inch cubes
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples: Toss the peeled and diced apples with the lemon juice to prevent browning and set aside.
  2. Mix the sauce ingredients: In a pot or the Instant Pot liner, combine brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, salt, and water, stirring to dissolve the sugars and spices.
  3. Add apples to the sauce: Place the prepared apples into the liquid mixture evenly.
  4. Cook the mixture: If using an Instant Pot, cook on manual HIGH pressure for 0 minutes and then perform a quick pressure release. If using the stovetop, simmer the mixture for approximately 10 minutes or until the apples are fork tender.
  5. Thicken the sauce: Remove about 1/2 cup of the cooking liquid from the pot and whisk in the cornstarch until smooth, forming a slurry.
  6. Combine and finish: Pour the cornstarch slurry back into the pot with the apples, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens to a dip-like consistency.
  7. Serve or store: Use the dip right away, or refrigerate it for up to 5 days. You can also freeze it to enjoy later.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balanced sweet and tangy flavor.
  • Adjust the cinnamon amount based on your taste preference.
  • This dip pairs well with graham crackers, cinnamon sugar pita chips, or fresh fruit slices.
  • If freezing, thaw the dip in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
  • Stir well before serving if the dip has been refrigerated to recombine any separated liquid.
