Meat & Vegetables
- ½ pound lean ground beef
- ½ cup diced yellow onion
Seasonings & Liquids
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- ¼ cup water
Dairy
- 8 ounces Colby jack cheese, shredded
Snacks
- 12 ounces bag of tortilla chips (Tostitos brand – use about ⅔ of the bag)
Optional Garnishes
- Sour cream
- Diced tomatoes
- Chopped fresh cilantro
- Preheat and Prepare Bundt Pan: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Spray a 12-cup capacity bundt pan thoroughly with cooking spray to prevent sticking, then set it aside.
- Cook Ground Beef Mixture: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, diced yellow onion, salt, and black pepper for 6–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully browned and no pink remains. Drain off any excess fat to reduce greasiness.
- Add Seasoning: Return the skillet to medium heat. Stir in the ¼ cup of water and 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning. Cook the mixture for 2–3 minutes more, until most of the liquid evaporates, creating a flavorful, seasoned beef filling. Remove the skillet from heat.
- First Layer in Bundt Pan: Begin assembling by layering half of the shredded Colby jack cheese evenly at the bottom of the prepared bundt pan. Next, add half of the seasoned beef mixture over the cheese. Follow this with one-third of the tortilla chips evenly distributed over the beef. Avoid packing down the chips to maintain crunch.
- Second Layer: Repeat the layering process by adding the remaining shredded cheese, then the leftover ground beef mixture. Top this with another third of the tortilla chips, spreading them into an even layer but do not overfill the pan.
- Bake: Place the bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes to melt the cheese and warm the dish thoroughly.
- Invert and Serve: Remove the bundt pan from the oven carefully. Place a large, heatproof plate over the top of the bundt pan, then invert the pan to transfer the nachos onto the plate. Gently lift off the bundt pan. If any cheese sticks to the pan, return it to the top of the nachos. This creates the signature bundt-shaped presentation.
- Garnish and Serve: Optionally, top the nachos with sour cream, diced tomatoes, and chopped fresh cilantro for added freshness and flavor. Serve immediately while warm for best texture and taste.
Notes
- Use freshly shredded Colby jack cheese instead of pre-shredded for better melting and texture.
- Ensure you use a heat-safe plate when flipping the bundt pan to avoid accidents.
- Ground beef can be substituted with ground turkey or plant-based meat alternatives for different dietary needs.
- Enhance the flavor with jalapeños, guacamole, or your favorite salsa on top or alongside the dish.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the best crunch and overall flavor experience.
