Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup almond butter
  • 1 scoop protein powder (33g)
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup almond flour

Topping

  • 1 cup chocolate (for melting)
  • Sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the applesauce, sugar, and almond butter until well mixed. Gradually add the protein powder, cacao powder, and almond flour, stirring continuously until a consistent dough forms.
  2. Form Bites: Use a cookie scoop to portion out the dough, then roll each portion into a ball using your hands. Place the balls on a flat surface or tray. Continue this process until all the dough is used. Refrigerate the balls for 1 hour to firm up.
  3. Melt Chocolate and Coat Bites: Melt the chocolate gently using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth. Dip each chilled bite into the melted chocolate to coat evenly, then place them on a parchment-lined surface. Immediately top each coated bite with sprinkles for a decorative touch.
  4. Refrigerate to Harden: Return the coated bites to the refrigerator and allow the chocolate to harden fully for about 20 minutes.

Notes

  • Store the bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator; they will keep well for 1 to 2 weeks.
  • For longer storage, freeze the bites. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
  • Use a protein powder flavor that complements chocolate well, such as vanilla or chocolate, for the best taste.
  • Adjust sweetness by modifying the sugar quantity to your preference.
  • For a nut-free option, substitute almond butter and almond flour with sunflower seed butter and oat flour respectively, adjusting texture as needed.
