Scrub Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup sweet almond oil (see notes for alternatives)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp allspice or pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 58 drops sweet orange essential oil

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, sweet almond oil, ground cinnamon, allspice, vanilla extract, and sweet orange essential oil. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well blended into a consistent scrub mixture.
  2. Transfer and Store: Pour the mixed sugar scrub into an airtight glass container such as a mason jar. Seal tightly to preserve freshness. Use the scrub within six months for best results.
  3. Application: With clean hands, scoop out about a quarter-sized amount of the scrub. Massage gently onto damp skin in circular motions to exfoliate. For increased exfoliation, use an exfoliating glove or brush.
  4. Rinse Off: After massaging for a minute or two, rinse off the scrub thoroughly with warm water. Pat skin dry and enjoy the softened, revitalized feeling.

Notes

  • Organic cane sugar was used here, but any granulated sugar works fine.
  • For facial use, white or brown sugar is preferred due to finer granules causing less irritation.
  • If you don’t have sweet almond oil, substitute coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, or another carrier oil.
  • Sweet orange essential oil can be replaced with about 1 tablespoon of orange peel powder or fresh orange zest. Fresh zest versions should be stored in the refrigerator and used within a week.
  • Apply the scrub in the shower or over a sink to reduce messiness, as cinnamon and allspice may cause temporary staining on skin and surfaces.
  • If sensitive to cinnamon, omit it to avoid potential skin irritation.
