This easy-to-make recipe balances rich flavors and healthy ingredients for a delightful meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for grilling)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Dijon Mustard Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (plus extra for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear. Brush both sides with olive oil and season evenly with salt and pepper.
  2. Make the Dijon Mustard Sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, heavy cream, freshly squeezed lemon juice, minced garlic, and chopped fresh dill until smooth and well combined.
  3. Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the creamy Dijon sauce over them. Allow them to marinate for 15 to 20 minutes to absorb the flavors, but do not exceed 20 minutes to prevent mushiness.
  4. Preheat and Prepare the Grill: Heat the grill to medium-high and make sure the grill grate is clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
  5. Grill the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill. Cook undisturbed for 4 to 5 minutes to get a nice sear. Carefully flip the fillets and grill for another 3 to 4 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove the salmon from the grill, drizzle with the remaining creamy Dijon mustard sauce, garnish with fresh dill, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh, wild-caught salmon for the best flavor and texture.
  • Adjust the sauce ingredients to suit your personal taste preferences, adding more lemon juice or garlic if desired.
  • Do not marinate the salmon for more than 20 minutes to avoid a mushy texture.
  • Consider using a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the salmon reaches 145°F (63°C) for safe consumption.
